Duties and Responsibilities:

Radiation therapy assists radiologists and oncologists in treating diseases by exposing areas of patient’s bodies to ionizing heat radiation. In addition to helping with treatments, scientists are responsible for maintaining the radiation therapy equipment and helping to maintain patient records. It is provided in hospitals, public health clinics, cancer treatment centers, and private offices.

Average Salary:
$22,000-$36,000

Educational Requirements:

A student should take the most challenging classes in science, math, and English. Learners can train to become radiation therapists in either one or two year programs. One year programs are often accessible by hospitals. To be able to succeed for a one year program, a candidate must have advanced from an approved program in radiologic technology or been a nurse with schooling in radiation physics. A high school diploma or GED is essential.
