Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and specialized oriental medicine procedures and treatments for a specified patient population. Prescribes herbal and other medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Provides the prescription and administration of devices, restricted devices, and prescriptive devices as defined in the New Mexico Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act.

The things that I am going to do to improve my health is start a healthy diet because as of right now my diet is not a healthy one. I need to start eating less fats and another thing I need to work on is losing weight. I need to lose a little more weight and maybe even reduce my stress because it can really affect my health. I might need more sleep during the night and try to go to bed earlier.

Most licensed acupuncturists hold master's degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates from schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. As the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine explain, most programs require 1,500-2,000 hours of acupuncture training and take 3-4 years to complete.
